LW Pit Flooring - three ways to make leak-free flooring for containment pit

After establishing a curbing enclosure as spill containment pit, the key challenge is now shifted to making a leak-free flooring so that the containment pit can function as designed. The basic requirements for a containment pit flooring are: a) waterproof, leak-free and oil-resistant when containing either water or oil or both; b) load bearing and impact resistant, because the pit may be filled with fire-quenching stones; c) durable, insoluable, heat-resistant and non-UV degradable.

1. Field applied fiber reinforced polymer concrete (FRPC) layer.
LW-FRPC is a pre-mixed fiber reinforced polyer concrete material and supplied in drums. Each drum contains a dry mixture of cement, sand, peat gravel, macro fibers, and special admixtures and additives in predetermined proportions. The only ingredient missing from the drum is water, which will be added on site prior to site mixing. Upon adding water, the mixture should be mixed thoroughly, and poured immediately to form a spill containment flooring.
2: Precast concrete modular tile blockes.
LW-Tile is a modular precast concrete tile block. It is lightweight, easy to cut and fit, and is load bearing. Around the edge of the modular block is a strip of extruded expansible rubber water stop which will swell when meeting with water, forming a complete leak-free joint. The modular blocks will be placed tightly against each other to form a waterproof floor slab, and the joints will be further reinforced by polyurethane caulking.
3. Cast-in-place concrete with wire-mesh reinforcement.
The Concrtee on Mesh method is a process that involves placing the wire-meshes at midway of the intended floor depth, pouring concrete with pre-planned grooves at all joints, and provide caulking on the grooves.
